  3. If you have had an excused absence. All excused absence make-up work must be turned in before you leave for Great America tomorrow. If you turn in an assignment, you must also write a note in Google classroom notifying me that the assignment was excused and what day you were absent. No other late work will be accepted.

  1. Open the Comic Book Template in Google Classroom.
  2. Use the information you collected on Friday to complete the Comic template. You will need at least five complete pages:

    • A cover page that introduces your innovator.
    • Three pages that explain: their early life, what their innovation was, and how their innovation changed people’s lives.
    • A closing page, that is a preview of where the innovation leads in the “FUTURE”. In other words after their life.
    • Include at least two videos embedded in your comic book.
    • Each page, except the cover, should have several sentences of dialogue or explanation using callouts and text boxes.
    • Fill each page with images, video, and text, use layers in Slides to move the objects around.
    • When you are done, delete all other slides.

  1. If you are reading this before you have completed number 3, put your Chromebook back in your backpack. You will need a pen or pencil.
  2. There are four questions, the most important thing in a written test is that you write in such a way that it proves you know something. Even if you don't have a perfect answer to a question you must make an attempt. Writing nothing, or a one sentence answer is the surest way to get a bad grade. You need to write as much as you can in the space provided. Use details and be specific. Try to use what you do know and don't stress about what you don't know.
  3. Civil War Midterm, Part 2. Complete your written mid-term. Turn in.
  4. Get your Chromebook from your backpack and begin studying the Unit 14 Quizlet set.
  5. If you have gone through all of the Unit 14 terms, read Newsela for the remainder of the period.

  1. HHS Announcement: Journalism was left off of the HHS ballot but it will be offered next year. The school newspaper will be published in an electronic format. If you would like to take journalism please add code 9185 to your HHS ballot in the electives section.
  2. IMPORTANT: This Friday and the following Monday you will take a “midterm” in history. A midterm exam is a major high school/college style test. There will be two parts. The first part will be multiple choice and will be much longer than the quizzes you have taken in history this year. You will take part 1 on Friday. On Monday, you will take part 2, which is a written test with four questions to which you will need to make a written response of about a paragraph for each question.
  3. Today you will utilize the research that you did on Friday with a partner to build a presentation that you will share with the class tomorrow.
  4. Open your research notes from Friday, if you have trouble accessing them you can “Unsubmit” them in Google Classroom. Have one of your team members open the correct slideshow template then share it with your partner. Use the research that you have already done and complete the slides. You must complete this today in class and submit before you leave the room. We will present in class tomorrow.

  2. With state testing coming soon, your ELA teachers have asked that we take the ELA practice test to be better prepared for state testing.
  3. Go to this link ELA , and choose “Student interface.”
  4. Sign in as a guest.
  5. Choose grade 8 and hit yes.
  6. Take the Grade 8 ELA practice test. After you finish the ELA practice Test, complete the ELA Performance task.
  7. Treat this as if it were the real test. This is not a regular grade and your scores won’t be recorded, however, this will help you to be ready to take the State test after we come back from Spring Break.
  8. If you finish both practice tests before the period is over read Newsela or study your Civil War Quizlet set. If you do not finish during the period you do not need to finish it later. Just work for this period.

  1. Today you will be working on a research activity with a partner that will be the first part in a new type of presentation we will be doing. You will have a whole class period today to do your research. The research page must be turned in before the period is over. The quality expectation of what is in your presentation is higher and who you chose to work with matters more than ever. Your class will rely on you to teach them the information that will be on the Civil War midterm next week. Do not let them down.
    • Choose ONE partner.
    • Have one partner sign up for your topic (ask Mr. Welch to sign up). Have one partner get the correct document for either a Battle/Event or a Person from Google Classroom and share it with the other partner.
    • Complete your research document with as much detail as possible. You will use it to create something else next week in class. TURN IN the document before the period is over.
  2. If you and your partner are finished read Newsela articles or study your Civil War Quizlet.
