1. Last night the President gave the State of the Union speech. 
2. We will watch the beginning of the speech today in class. In most years this speech runs about 90 minutes.
3. Open the notes page in Classroom and complete it as we watch the speech. Turn in by 8AM tomorrow.

1. At the beginning of the period, we will go to the Office to be weighed and measured for graduation and to sign the 8th-grade shirt. Please follow directions from the office staff!
2. Take your quiz on arguments and persuasion. You will find it in Google Classroom. If you have a quiz to make up for last week, see Mr. Welch right after you complete today's quiz.
3. Complete several articles in Newsela with the time that remains.

1. We will be doing a series of activities in the next few days on arguments. You are about to raise your presentation skills, and have no doubt, my expectations are about to go up.
2. Go to Edpuzzle. There are two videos to watch on creating arguments. There are no questions in the videos, but there is a notes page to complete in Classroom. BIG WARNING: there will be a quiz tomorrow on these two videos. If you don’t watch them carefully you will fail it.
3. Read Newsela articles from your list if there is still time.
